Bonding at SHG Wolf in Munich

26/Jul/2018

At SHG Wolf in Munich, various new stickers had to be applied. Opening hours, logo and much more in a continuous style.

We don't even shy away from bad weather. And a few years ago, we had to contend with really adverse weather conditions: wind and snow (rain) with temperatures just above zero. It's not just about our employees (it's not great for them, but they get the job done, hats off), but about the materials such as adhesive film, which have completely different properties in the cold than in the heat (see photos to browse through).

Re-gluing the window fronts

With our customer Sanitär-, Heizungs- und Gebäudetechnik Wolf in Munich, a complete renovation of the window fronts was on the agenda (see also photos, click on photo to enlarge image, then simply click through the gallery). The new logo was to be emblazoned large and clearly visible to the street, the fanlights were to be fitted with decorative glass film (also known as frost film or frosted glass film) combined with the logo in black. At first glance, "pure routine" as they say

Removing old adhesive film - more difficult than expected

Colleague Robert set to work straight away, but found that removing the existing adhesive film was more difficult than expected. One reason for this was the low temperatures. Adhesive films are easier to remove when the ambient temperature is 10 degrees plus or more. Secondly, the existing film was very thin, so extreme care was needed if you didn't want to tear off individual pieces and spend hours removing them.

Decorative glass film for the large window front and the skylights

It didn't help, the hot air gun had to be used. My colleague Andreas, who was assigned to document the operation, assisted. It was important not to heat the foil too little so that it would come off. However, if it was too hot, it would tear off immediately and a new one would have to be cut off. In the end, however, the old foil was gone and the new one could be applied. SGH Wolf shines on the outside with a fresh, professional and well thought-out look.
