Test with paper from SIHL: printing and laminating
A few months ago, we had the opportunity to test a paper from SIHL, the SIHL Maranello Photo Paper PE 195 to be precise (you can browse through the photos). The motifs were provided by photographer Wolfang Gröger-Meier. These are beautiful shots of a vintage Porsche in Italy. The theme was a perfect fit, especially as the pictures are now hanging in the Italian restaurant Cuore.
Great color reproduction, even with gradients
What we really liked about this paper was the outstanding color reproduction. Reds and blacks, for example, were rich and vibrant. The numerous shades of green also produced very nice results (see photos). The landscape shots were given a stylish touch.
The color gradients also came across really well and had a smooth transition without visible gradations (for example, in the blue of the sky). However, if color gradations were to come into their own (for example, several mountain ridges in a row in shades of gray that differ only in nuances), they were clearly visible. A paper that leaves nothing to be desired.
Razor-sharp even at close range, fast drying
It is particularly worth mentioning that filigree motifs with the smallest details (trees, fittings) were still razor-sharp and extremely cleanly printed, even from a distance of approx. 10 cm. Furthermore, the ink dried extremely quickly after being applied to the surface, so that on the one hand nothing smudged and on the other hand further processing (laminating on Alu Dibond) was possible immediately.
However, the lamination process proved to be a challenge, which we were of course happy to take on. On the one hand, the paper could tear, so extreme care had to be taken. On the other hand, the surface had to be absolutely clean, otherwise even the smallest speck of dust would have led to visible and tangible bumps in the end result. Cleaning, aligning the paper, keeping the machine running - our multi-talented Tim had to do all three at the same time. With success.
If you also have projects for us that require precision and the highest print quality, we look forward to hearing from you. If you are interested in the paper, we would also be pleased to receive your inquiry. Of course, WENZEL also stocks other art papers: Click here for the Fineartprint.
