Leather bookmark with pad printing
100,000 bookmarks to be printed in one year. That's almost 274 per day - including weekends and public holidays. And that on leather using pad printing. Sounds like quite a challenge, but for our customer, Scandinavian Bookmarks, we absolutely wanted to make this possible (see also photos to browse through in this blog post).
Cute animal bookmarks: Giraffe, lion, meerkat
It all starts with countless leather "blanks". Each animal, including giraffe, lion, leopard, etc., has its own color tone. We print these templates using single or multi-colored pad printing (here more about pad printing / advertising printing). After an appropriate drying time - around 24 hours, then the ink will definitely hold - the bookmarks are ready for further processing.
Three-part giraffe: pad printing at a professional level
However, the cute little animals present us with different challenges: The meerkat, for example, is "content" with one printing process. The giraffe, on the other hand (see photos), is only satisfied with a multi-part print run. And for the lion, the production envisages two colors in pad printing, one with all outlines in black and one with the eyes in white. Naturally, we have our tricks for producing this special design quickly and accurately.
Further processing in a workshop for the disabled
After printing, however, the bookmarks are not quite finished yet. WENZEL sends them to a workshop for the disabled for finishing, where they are given the finishing touches (see photos). The giraffe, for example, sticks out of every book with its long neck. And every other little animal is also a nice sight for every book lover.
