Floating acrylic letters
We installed floating acrylic letters at adaptant. An interesting task with a great result.
At the Munich startup adaptanta software specialist, we had an interesting installation job to do: laser-cut acrylic letters, 21 cm high, 5 mm thick, as well as the graphic element of the logo (photos below) - also laser-cut individual parts - were to "float" on the wall, so the brackets were not to be visible.
Backed acrylic for the correct logo colors
The first step was to back-glue the acrylic panels with the desired colored Oracal films, in this case dark blue and a certain turquoise that came closest to the original logo color. Alternatively, we could of course have back-printed the acrylic elements, but then there is no guarantee that the adhesive dots will stick to the printed surface - and of course we had to avoid letters falling off at all costs.
This was followed by the aforementioned laser-cutting of the entire acrylic glass + film package. Although we can polish straight edges, it is difficult and time-consuming to polish round shapes or letters such as an "A" cleanly. In addition, we do not know how the glued film will behave, e.g. how it will come off again.
Mounting with a few adhesive dots
The installation was carried out using a template, i.e. the excess acrylic was not thrown away but attached to the wall with removable masking tape once it was aligned as desired. We glued the individual logo elements onto it with a few dots of adhesive and then simply removed the template from the wall. This meant that everything was perfectly straight, the spacing was correct and the floating effect was guaranteed. After an hour of installation time, everything was just as the customer wanted it.
