Fine art print on canvas and paper

28/Jun/2018

Fine art prints work best on art papers and canvases. WENZEL offers you a selection of different materials, some textured, some smooth. Some surfaces are suitable for watercolors, others for photos. Here is a detailed look at our fine art print.

Fine art printing is a relatively "young" discipline at WENZEL and has "only" been available for a few years. However, WENZEL is constantly expanding its range of art print papers. But fine art print also goes on canvas, of which there are also different versions.

Fineart papers: partly named after artists

Some of the fine art papers have interesting names, as they are named after famous artists. For example, the "Albrecht Dürer" paper. At 210g/sqm, the material is a lightweight among fine art papers. If you are planning a fine art print for certificates, presentations, art reproductions etc., Albrecht Dürer is the right choice. This is because color reproduction and ink absorption are enhanced by a special coating. The paper is also acid-free and highly resistant to ageing.

Art paper "William Turner"

Also suitable for a high-quality fine art print is "William Turner", named after an English painter, which is made from 100% rag paper. The paper is not smooth, but has a structure, which gives it an elegant and natural touch. Anyone who loves imperfection in nature and wants to convey this passion through a material should choose William Turner. Watercolor paintings in particular come into their own with this paper.

As soft as cotton: Museum White Smooth Cotton

The Museum White Smooth Cotton fine art print material is bright white and matt. The surface is smooth, velvety soft and perfect for long-lasting photo and art reproductions. The material is suitable for the reproduction of delicate, fine lines and enables a very high-quality fine art print. Even the reproduction of grayscale and motifs with a high proportion of black is flawless with the age and archive-resistant Smooth Cotton.

Perfect for passe-partouts: baryta

Sihl Maser Class Baryta is a rather thick and very stable paper with a grammage of 290g/sqm. Galleries and museums in particular like to use this material. Baryta can be used to create a wide variety of fine art prints, for example photos, black and white images, etc. The contrasts are clearly brought out. The contrasts are clearly emphasized, fine lines are razor sharp and gradients are beautifully accentuated. The paper is archive-proof.

Great for watercolors: Torchon

Another candidate for watercolor fine art prints is torchon. The material emphasizes the watercolour effects and accentuates the contrasts with rich, intense colors. Torchon is also of the "stable" variety and has a weight of 285g/sqm. The material is perfect for art prints and presentations. However, we have also used it for business cards (of the more refined kind), invitation cards and certificates. Menus or vouchers that need to stand out from the crowd with their feel and print quality are also ideally suited to the Finartprint material Torchon.

A fine art print dream in white: Florence canvas

In addition to fine art papers, WENZEL also offers fine canvas materials for fine art prints. For example, the Florenz canvas, which is made of 100% cotton and weighs 395g/sqm. Sophisticated fine art prints can be realized excellently with this material. The interesting structure remains visible and tactile even after printing. Canvas Florenz is largely water-repellent and can also be ordered without a wooden frame (if you want to mount the canvas yourself). You can also have the Florenz version sewn by us and use it as a banner.

Canvas Venezia: fine art print as fine as satin

The "Venezia" version is a densely woven, dimensionally stable satin material and is suitable for photo and art productions at the very highest fine art print level. The silk matt canvas has a weight of 350g/sqm. The short drying time prevents even the slightest smudging of the applied colors, so that even hair-thin, filigree details come across razor-sharp with this fine art print material. If you want to mount the canvas yourself, simply order it without a wooden frame. Like the Florence version, Venezia is also available as a banner (with eyelets on request).

Canvas Como: medium-fine, textured material

The Como variant is a medium-textured, silk-matt material. The canvas fabric is ideal for art reproductions (for example after scanning a painting), but also for representative photo printing. The fabric is OekoTex-certified and offers an excellent color gamut. The fine art print material Canvas Como is a blend of polyester fibers and cotton that is coated in such a way that the ink application dries after a very short time. Motifs with rich colors and gradients are therefore ideal for the 340g/sqm material. Once the ink has dried, the Como canvas is splash-proof, durable and resistant to a certain degree to external influences.

As you can see: When it comes to fine art prints, WENZEL not only offers quality, but also an impressive quantity in view of the large selection. There is something for every occasion.
