Photo with passe-partout in an elegant frame

A print with a passe-partout and elegant frame is something very special. The photo not only hangs on the wall, but also has a very elegant touch and enhances the "wow" effect. A passe-partout is a cardboard that is inserted into a frame with a glass front. We use a standard width of 4 cm, but other widths can also be produced without any problems (please ask us).

The passe-partout in the frame creates "distance" and clarity

The inserted passe-partout creates "distance" to the frame. This means that the picture does not fill the entire frame, but only a section of it. This not only brings visual clarity, but also very practical advantages: The print and the glass at the front have no contact, which is ideal for conservation reasons (both for prints, e.g. on laid paper, and for watercolors, etc.).

Concentration on the motif

In other words, a passe-partout draws the eye to the center, i.e. the actual motif, and creates "calm" around the photo; the viewer is not distracted. Furthermore, the passe-partout is cut diagonally inwards, giving the picture "depth". Thanks to modern cutting techniques, the mitre (i.e. the cut corner) can be produced perfectly and is a visual delight.

Various passe-partout and frame colors

You can choose from a wide range of frame colors. If your frame color is not listed, simply contact us and we will be happy to help you. Fine paper for passe-partout

Of course, we don't use just any paper to print this fine article. We use the Sihl Masterclass Baryta with a grammage of 290g/sqm. On the one hand, the colors on this paper are vibrant and brilliant, on the other hand, it is precisely this combination with the elegant frame and the passe-partout that makes it something very special.

How is the format for the passe-partout calculated?

You can choose between different formats for the passe-partout. With this product, you simply subtract 4 cm from the final format (e.g. 50 x 70 cm) all the way around. This means that the visible part - i.e. your photo - has a format of 42 x 62 cm. So that we can also make up the print, we need 0.5 cm material allowance all round. We currently offer black, glossy frames (Nielsen Alpha black glossy) with a natural white passe-partout. We will be happy to calculate your price on request. Any questions? Please do not hesitate to contact us.
