What is DTF?
For textile prints - as if from a fashion store - of the highest quality
DTF stands for "Direct to Film" and is a special type of transfer printing. The desired design is printed directly onto a special film, which then transfers the pattern onto the textile.
The DTF transfer printing process is as follows:
- The desired design is created digitally and prepared for printing.
- The design is printed onto the transfer film using a special DTF printer. A special ink is used to ensure optimum adhesion to the film.
- After printing, the design is cured, usually using heat and UV light to dry and fix the ink.
- The printed transfer film is placed on the textile and fixed in place using heat and pressure. This process enables the ink to adhere permanently to the textile.
DTF transfer printing has many advantages. It enables the printing of high-resolution designs with fine details and color gradients, without restrictions on the variety of colors or the complexity of the pattern. Applications include a variety of textiles such as cotton, polyester, blended fabrics and other materials.
The surface quality of DTF transfer printing can vary depending on the print quality and the materials used. In general, the result is a smooth and flexible surface that is pleasant to the touch. For designs with a white underlay, the print may have a slight relief to enhance the intensity of the colors.
As a comparatively new technology, DTF transfer printing is becoming increasingly popular due to its versatile application possibilities and the ability to produce high-quality and detailed prints on various textiles.
