Letterpress

Letterpress printing is still real manual work: we create your clichés and press them onto cardboard. In the highest quality, with a process like in the olden days - so that your printed matter is something special.

Letterpress

The letterpress process is a noble craft that has meanwhile become rare. "Embossing" is a similar term that describes quite well what we actually do:
We emboss the desired motif onto paper usig clichés. Although paper isn't the right word, cardboard weighing 600g per square meter probably describes it better. The maximum format is DIN A6, i.e. "postcard format" (10.5 x 14.8 cm).

Letterpress with a maximum of two colors

In the first step we develop the cliché for one side of the print (also watch our video on this website or just click here and go to the book printing video). Then we clamp the cliché and the printing process begins, mostly with black ink. Then a new cliché has to be developed for the back and the cardboard aligned exactly on the front. A second color is possible, but very expensive. However, we only offer three or more colors in absolutely exceptional cases, since it is technically difficult to "match" all positions exactly. In principle, however, it is already possible on request.

The letterpress process not only differs from the nostalgic-romantic aura that this old technique has. The print products are also strikingly different in terms of appearance and feel from modern business cards that can be produced using digital printing. Letterpress printing creates a tactile and visible relief that is pressed inwards (quasi the counter-principle to letterpress). Of course you can also feel the significantly stronger material: Instead of thin cardboard made of e.g. 300g paper, we use 600g/sqm cardboard as described above. If desired, the color cut on the side gives the business card an elegant, colorful and eye-catching touch.

How much does the letterpress process cost?

How much is a car? That cannot be answered in general. It depends on the material you choose (there are different colored boxes), whether it should be printed in one color or in multiple colors, how many pieces you want, etc. There are always many questions that need to be clarified in advance. Feel free to contact us at any time, we will make you an individual offer.
